  1. There are hundreds of Native American rock art carvings along the shores of The Snake River at Buffalo Eddy, on the Washington side of Snake River. A short trail leads along the river to the rocks. Ancestors to today’s Nez Perce created the petroglyphs between 4,500 and 300 years ago.  Jamie Francis/The Oregonian
