#vision care

  1. Metzla Cervantes, 7, swoons as school secretary, Diane Loredo, admires her new glasses in the office at Echo Shaw Elementary School Tuesday in Cornelius. Cervantes, in the second grade, was just fitted for the glasses inside a VSP Vision Care and Transitions Optical mobile RV that’s in the area this week to examine and supply glasses for kids and adults in need. The Sacramento-based, traveling unit is being supported by optometry students and doctors from Pacific University College of Optometry while it’s in Oregon. Cervantes was able to get an eye exam and watch her glasses being made. The RV will continue to Cornelius Elementary Wednesday and Thursday and to Sonrise Church in Hillsboro on Friday. Studies have shown that 80 percent of a child’s learning is visual, but one in four children has an undetected vision problem. Photo by Jamie Francis
